Civil Engineering

Department of Civil Engineering in AITS Kadapa was established in the year 2010 with an intake of 60 students in B.Tech programme and subsequently increased to 120. Postgraduate programme (M.Tech) in the specialization of Structural Engineering was commenced from the year 2013 with an intake of 24. The Department of Civil Engineering moves with an ever enthusiastic zeal towards achieving proficiency in multiple dimensions such as core subject understanding, research, consultancy, and life skills. Students are encouraged to accomplish their goals through constant encouragement in both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities by the well qualified and experienced faculty. With the constant endeavor of the Civil Engineering fraternity equipped by state of the art laboratories and infrastructural facilities, the department is aimed to promote expertise in core civil subject areas and create awareness in the real-time applications of the learned subjects. The department would readily undertake consultancy works as a part of industry interaction and also organizes seminars/symposia for professional interaction. Students are encouraged to participate in various professional activities and support for frequent field visits in order to convert classroom knowledge to practical applications for the benefit of society.

Vision

The department of civil engineering envisions becoming a nerve centre in developing highly competent civil engineers entwined with knowledge, technical skills and ethics to contribute to the sustainable society.



Mission

  • To prepare students for a Civil Engineering Profession by imparting technical knowledge and skills.
  • To elevate rural education seekers to pursue a career in the civil engineering profession by inculcating innovating thinking, students leadership abilities, research capabilities, and ethical values.

    Engineering Graduates will be able to:
  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

21 3-D AUTO CAD drawings of Vontimitta, Nandalur, and Gandikota Madhavaraya Temples were prepared after a systematic survey with due permission from ASI of 2011-15 batch B.Tech students.
